MTL HQ, Luton

McLaren have recently completed a 97,000 sq.ft. headquarter's facility for global business MTL Technologies at Butterfield, Luton on behalf of Easter Developments.

MTL Technologies is the group leader in the field of intrinsic safety explosion protection devices, fieldbus technology and surge protection for the process control industry. 

The facility provides flexible business space within this elegantly designed two storey building.   The architectural brief was to create a world class head quarters office building along side a research & development and manufacturing facility.  The office element has a clear and transparent external envelope with a central top-lit triple-height atrium extending the width of the building providing a hub for all the programmatic elements of MTL's operation.  The manufacturing element the building is more enclosed with the space primarily lit from above.
The design responds to the current floor space requirements however this is inherently flexible and can be altered as necessary as can the mezzanine floor structure within the manufacturing area.

The scheme makes a strong corporate statement at an economical cost.
