Client: Stoford Commercial Property
Development/Driving Standards Agency
Architect: Webb Gray
Quantity Surveyor: DBK
Structural Engineer: BWB
Services Engineer: ESC Ltd
This project involved the construction of a new Driving Standards Agency unit and test track for the purpose of training and testing new motorcyclist and car drivers.
The scheme involved the re-development of an existing brown field site which included the re-grading of the land and the construction of a unit from steel frame and composite wall panels. The inside of the unit was fitted out by McLaren including the provision of a reception area, offices, meeting rooms, wc/shower areas and a rear garage room all to the DSA specification.
The outside consisted of an access road and parking area for
visitors, customers and examiners and also the main test
track. The test track is 125m by 40m and was constructed with
stringent tolerances. Once constructed the tarmac was subject
to an aging process to ensure that all the DSA tracks are identical
in size and finish.
