McLaren Construction has recently completed a distinctive 150,000 sq ft leisure complex at The Old Historic Docks, Chatham, Kent for Chatham Maritime J4 Construction.
The exciting £13.0m project was delivered in 44 weeks and comprises of a 70,000 sq ft 3 storey main building that houses the Dickens World experience which features a Dickensian Shopping Mall, together with a multitude of attractions and rides, including a mix of themed restaurants and bars.
As part of the development a structural steel framed, pre cast concrete multi storey car park was constructed with space for 471 vehicles; the majority of the car park facades being clad in a stainless steel mesh, including specialist feature lighting that will provide a spectacular attribute to the scheme.
A further feature in keeping with the maritime environment is a boat shaped structure housing a 9 screen cinema with a seating capacity of 2,000.
Re-modelling of an adjacent existing car park is part of the overall scheme which will add a further 900 car parking spaces.
