McLaren ‘Lead’ the Porsche Carrera Cup

Yet again McLaren Construction will be supporting Michael Cain of the Motorbase Performance team in his race for the Porsche Carrera Cup title.

The Cup is a major support race of the MSA British Touring Car Championships (BTCC). The new season is the eighth year of the Cup, and with an unprecedented competitor demand, the 2010 season is full with a 28 car entry. It is going to be an exciting season.

The Porsches were on track in March for their only pre-season test which was held at Silverstone. Michael, completed the quickest lap of the day by nine-thousands of a second. The season kicks off with its first race in April, with 10 weekends of racing:

3/4 April - Thruxton   - Michael Cain - 2nd Place (See below)

24/25 April - Rockingham

1/2 May - Brands Hatch (GP)

5/6 June - Oulton Park

19/20 June - Croft

7/8 August - Snetterton

21/22 August - Silverstone

4/5 September - Knockhill

18/19 September - Donington Park

9/10 October - Brands Hatch (Indy)

The BTCC has great media interest and all the races are broadcasted live via ITV4 with recorded highlights shown on ITV1.

Thruxton - Sunday 4th April 2010

The first race is complete, and after 21 laps of the high-speed Hampshire track Michael Cain, came in at a brilliant, 2nd place, picking up 36 valuable points. With an average speed of 110mph on the day and only three-quarters of a second deciding each of the three categories, it's going to be exciting to see what happens on Race 2 at Rockingham. 'Come On Michael!'
